This course is for teachers who already understand and have implemented basic models of co-teaching and are ready to level up their practice.

This professional learning time will allow you and your co-teacher to have dedicated planning time to continue moving through the developmental stages of co-teaching (beginning, compromising, collaborative) by using your assessment results from the Gately & Gately rating scale. Some of the topics covered will be:

  • Common barriers in co-teaching and possible solutions.
  • A realistic way to plan SDI for students across the semester or year, unit or week, and day
  • Variations of Marilyn Friend’s 6 models of co-teaching to creatively organize students for small group instruction within the general classroom
  • How to maximize the effectiveness of co-teaching and maintain healthy co-teaching relationships

There will be time allotted to plan with your co-teacher.
