Punk Rock Teaching – Keep Your Students Engaged by Teaching Outside the Box!

June 7 @ 8:30 am - 11:30 am

Audience: K-8 Teachers and Administrators
PD Clock Hours: 3
Presenter: Jeff Fessler, Teacher at Western Elementary School
Food: Light Snacks
Location: QPS Board Office (Room 231),1416 Maine St., Quincy

Punk rock teaching is coloring outside of the lines (maybe even outside of the coloring book). It rejects the sage-on-the-stage approach of instruction where the teacher drones on as rows of bored students with glazed eyes stare into space. Just like punk rock music–rebellious, authentic, and a creative reaction to the status quo–punk rock teaching encompasses cutting edge, research-based approaches that energize, motivate, and speak to this unique generation of students and teachers. In this session you’ll experience arts integrated techniques, service learning, Project Based Learning, and more. This session is for educators who want better ways of educating kids, and understand that it’s up to them to make the change!

Registration closes on June 5, 2024.
