Substitute License Training for Short-Term Substitute Teaching

The Regional Office of Education is offering FREE three-hour trainings required for short-term substitute teacher certification. Our office has an agreement to supply this training with the following districts in our region: A-C Central, Beardstown, Central, Liberty, Payson, Quincy, Scott Morgan (Bluffs), Jacksonville, Pikeland,  Pleasant Hill, Virginia, Waverly, Western, and Winchester . (If you are interested in becoming a short-term substitute in another district, please contact that district directly for training information.)

Prospective substitute teachers must have an Associate degree OR have completed 60 or more semester hours of college coursework.

You must complete this training and then you are ready to apply. (There is currently no fee!) You will be able to substitute in all grades of public schools, pre-kindergarten through grade 12. A short-term substitute license will be valid until June 30, 2023.

Although not required for regular substitute teachers, the training is also open and available to those educators as well. The chart below shows the training dates and times.
